LIVE LACTOBACILLUS

Our difference

Living skin probiotics

Only a small number of skincare products in the world contain living probiotics. Our coconut oil is made with a proprietary fermentation process, using organically-grown coconuts from Cambodia, and scientifically validated to contain live Lactobacillus probiotics.

This process creates a distinct blend of living microbes that remain viable in the oil. Living Lactobacillus bacteria produce compounds called bio-ferments which have potent benefits for the skin.

These benefits include anti-photoaging effects, inhibiting collagen breakdown, promoting ceramide production, strengthening the skin barrier, supporting healthier skin immunity, and inhibiting harmful bacteria.

powerhouse actives

The beauty of bio-ferments

Our proprietary fermentation process creates a unique blend of Lactobacillus bio-ferments. Bio-ferments are compounds (eg peptides) made by living microbes, with anti-inflammatory & anti-aging benefits for the skin.

Fermentation produces actives that are:

  • highly biocompatible with our skin cells, as the compounds are similar to or the same as our own skin molecules,
  • highly bioavailable - fermentation breaks compounds down into smaller molecules which means better penetration & absorption into the skin,
  • highly potent - fermentation increases potency resulting in greater efficacy for the skin.

alive & kicking

Most 'probiotics' in skincare are not actually living - they're dead post-biotic remnants. To be accurately labelled as probiotics they should be living.

Our coconut oil brew on the other hand is alive, scientifically validated to contain 4 x 10⁴ live Lactobacillus probiotics per 2 ml of coconut oil.

Because our microbes are living, they're capable of supplementing the skin's microflora & inhibiting harmful bacteria.

Our coconut oil has been scientifically validated to inhibit harmful Staphylococcus aureus & Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria, which cause skin infections & inflammation.

Skin native

Rewilding the skin

Lactobacillus is a small but significant part of our skin microbiome, with an outsize impact on the skin. It reduces harmful bacteria, keeps skin well hydrated, and it regulates immunity, aging factors and barrier function.

Research shows live Lactobacillus applied to the skin can stay viable & produce compounds for several weeks, adding probiotics without disrupting native skin biodiversity.

Gently rewilding the skin with Lactobacillus is optimal, and our hand-fermented coconut oil supports with subtle Lactobacillus levels, respecting the skin's natural ecosystem.
